....Magic Carpets è un intervento temporaneo realizzato in occasione della Nuit Blanche Taipei 2017. Il progetto presentato è il frutto di una continua ricerca sullo spazio pubblico e le implicazioni del disegno a terra sui comportamenti delle persone. Pertanto, abbiamo deciso di produrre una serie di disegni urbani, intesi come tappeti pubblici da collocare in diverse aree del campus di Gongguan dell'Università Nazionale di Taiwan. Le geometrie usate sono pensate in relazione all’idea di piastrella, affrontando questioni di scala e modularità: ogni tappeto, anche se chiaramente immaginato come un composto di pezzi ripetitivi e differenziati ha un'estetica propria e al contempo coerente nel suo complesso, creando così un vocabolario di elementi urbani. ..Magic Carpets is a temporary intervention realized in the occasion of Nuit Blanche Taipei 2017. The project deals with our understanding of drawn public space and its implications on people’s behaviors. Therefore, we decided to produce a series of urban drawings, meant as public colorful carpets to be placed in different areas of the Gongguan Campus of the National Taiwan University. The geometries reveal an interplay around the idea of tile, addressing issues of scale and modularity: each carpet, even though is clearly imagined as a compound of repeating and differentiated pieces - graphic tiles indeed - has a consistent aesthetics as a whole, framing a vocabulary of independent bigger urban elements. ....

....Il design è basato su una precisa organizzazione geometrica, ispirata all'iconografia tradizionale cinese, poi appiattita in superfici pubbliche disegnate per tracciare e innescare le azioni intuitive delle persone.

Performance e esibizioni hanno spontaneamente avuto luogo sull'intervento, contribuendo a stabilire un dialogo attivo tra i visitatori e il disegno a terra. A causa delle condizioni climatiche avverse, il posizionamento dell'intervento è stato modificato dalla National Taiwan University alla piazza di fronte al Taiwan Power Company Building.

The design is based on a precise geometrical organization, inspired by traditional Chinese iconography, then flattened into public drawn plans - to track and trigger people’s intuitive re-actions.

Many performances spontaneously took place interacting with the intervention, helping to establish an active dialogue between the visitors and the lines on the ground. Due to the adverse climate conditions, the positioning of the intervention was modified from the National Taiwan University to the square in front of the Taiwan Power Company Building. ....
