….La volontà del progetto è quella di instaurare una dialettica tra la corrente neogotica, di cui il cuneese possiede un importante patrimonio, e l’immaginario fantastico generato da un volume dalle sembianze fiabesche. Il tema del castello con tanto di merli e guglie, che costituiscono la corona più alta del terrazzo, è risolto tramite l’applicazione di una pelle metallica microforata, articolata per elementi verticali che seguono il ritmo del prospetto originale. In corrispondenza delle vetrate, allungate aperture a feritoia sono raccordate tramite piccoli archi catenari, rimando testuale al vocabolario neogotico. ..The intention of the project is to establish a dialectic discourse in-between the neo-Gothic current, of which Cuneo has an important heritage, and the imaginary world created by a volume with fairytale-like features. The theme of the castle, complete with battlements and spiers, which make up the highest crown of the terrace, is achieved by applying a micro-perforated metal skin, articulated by vertical elements that follow the rhythm of the original elevation. In correspondence of the windows, elongated slit openings are connected by small catenary arches, a direct reference to the neo-Gothic vocabulary. ….

….L’ingresso al lotto è stato ripensato in termini di accessibilità e permeabilità: si valorizza l’attuale rampa liberandola dai muretti esistenti e si inserisce una larga scalinata protesa verso l’accesso. L’ingresso si configura quindi come estroflessione dello spazio pubblico, accompagnando i fruitori verso l’entrata dell’edificio e offrendo un piacevole luogo di sosta e socializzazione. La pensilina esistente viene eliminata per far spazio ad un elemento discreto, un semicerchio generato dalla stessa geometria dell’edificio. ..The entrance to the lot has been redesigned in terms of accessibility and permeability: the existing ramp is freed from its confining walls and a large staircase is inserted reaching out towards the access. The entrance is therefore thought as an eversion of the adjacent public space, accompanying the users towards the building’s entry point and offering a pleasant place to stop and socialize. The existing roof is eliminated to make room for a discrete element, a semicircle generated by the same geometry of the building. ….

….Il piano terra è stato ridisegnato in continuità con le pertinenze esterne al fine di ampliare e diversificare le possibilità di utilizzo. Questa continuità è ottenuta attraverso l’inserimento di una facciata vetrata continua, resa possibile dalla pianta libera dell’edificio e dall’inserimento di uno spazio espositivo sopraelevato, in modo da raggiungere la quota del solaio del parcheggio. Il piano rialzato suggerisce una molteplicità di usi: l’estradosso può essere usato come seduta o può facilmente essere impiegato per un’esposizione lineare che si sviluppa lungo tutto il suo arco di 26 ml. ..The ground floor has been redesigned in continuity with the exterior ground in order to expand and diversify the possibilities of use. This continuity is achieved through the insertion of a continuous glass facade, made possible by the free plan of the building. To reach the same level of the outdoor space, inside a building is inserted an elevated exhibition space. The mezzanine floor suggests a variety of uses: the upper surface can be used as a seat or can easily be used for a linear exposure that develops along its entire span of 26 linear meters. ….

….La copertura viene rifunzionalizzata tramite precisi elementi spaziali e funzionali, un insieme sistematico di opere in grado di supportare un calendario di eventi e appuntamenti di aggregazione sociale e promozione culturale: un blocco tecnico all’aperto per il servizio di preparazione e somministrazione, una copertura leggera per il riparo dalle intemperie, una larga pedana circolare per dibattiti e presentazioni, che si configura anche come punto privilegiato dal quale osservare le montagne. La pavimentazione bicroma, realizzata in pietra locale, si propone infine come segno distintivo di questo spazio: il disegno è sviluppato secondo le geometrie dell’edificio esistente e si definisce come landmark riconoscibile anche dall’alto. ..The roof is refunctionalized through precise spatial and functional elements, a series of interventions capable of supporting a calendar of events, social gatherings and cultural promotions: an outdoor technical block for the preparation and administration service, a light coverage for shelter from the weather, a large circular platform for debates and presentations, which is also configured as a privileged point from which to observe the mountains.
